Tracing insecticide-treated bed nets to the last mile using global GS1 standards

Nigeria has the highest malaria burden globally, with insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) being crucial in reducing transmission. However, traditional manual data collection methods for ITN distribution were prone to errors and lacked real-time tracking, leading to inefficiencies and accountability issues in ensuring nets reached intended households without being lost, stolen or diverted.

Enhancing medical device logistics at The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, China

Manual coding in SPD management poses risks of errors like incorrect labelling, leading to medical hazards.

Public Policy in healthcare

Using GS1 standards in healthcare enables verification of the patient’s identity, product verification ensuring that the right patient receives the right medication and supports efficient product recalls by linking the medical product to the patient.
